SMT Steady Mesh Technology®

We had been thinking of a new reinforcement for extruded hoses for a long time, being fully aware of the limits characterizing previous products. Meanwhile we have developed a new kind of hose reinforcement combining stability under pressure, which is a peculiar feature of the braided hose, with the unique flexibility offered by a knitted hose. The result is versatile mesh reinforcement, perfect for different applications such as gardening, hobby activities, industry and the food sector.
The technology development of the SMT® reinforcement is based on the patents shown below:

SMT® X Mesh

Reinforcement obtained by hooking two thread strings running around the hose in opposite sense to each other; thus as many knitting meshes as the threads running in each sense are obtained.

Reinforcement preventing the hose from twisting under pressure even in case of variable pressure values; high malleability, limited stretching and expansion when the hose is under pressure; excellent for gardening and hobby applications, especially for diameters below 1" ( DN 25 ).

SMT® V Mesh

Reinforcement obtained by hooking two thread strings running around the hose in opposite sense to each other; this version however also hooks the thread crossing points ( see SMT® X Mesh ). Thus twice the number of mesh chains compared to the number of threads for each string is achieved.

Reinforcement preventing the hose from twisting under pressure even in case of variable pressure values. Excellent malleability thanks to the high number of knitted meshes; limited stretching of the hose under pressure; ideal for gardening and hobby activities, for hose diameters of 1" ( DN 25 ) and beyond as well as for industrial applications.

SMT® A Mesh

Reinforcement obtained by a knitting head with double needle series allowing to knit a mesh consisting of two strings of threads running in opposite sense to each other around the hose. Such mesh alternately hooks a thread from the clockwise and one from the anticlockwise string; thus a number of mesh chains is obtained corresponding to the sum of the threads employed for knitting.

Reinforcement preventing the hose from twisting under pressure even in case of variable pressure values; good malleability and limited stretching and expanding of the hose under pressure; higher production speed compared to versions SMT® X Mesh and SMT® V Mesh; suitable for producing low price hoses with reduced thickness for gardening and hobby activities.

SMT® T Mesh

Reinforcement obtained by a knitting head with double needle series allowing to knit two overlapping and interlaced meshes running opposite to each other, while using two strings of threads running in opposite sense to each other around the hose. Thus the number of meshes obtained corresponds to the sum of the threads employed for the knitting.

Reinforcement preventing the hose from twisting under pressure even in case of varying hose dimensions. Excellent malleability thanks to the high number of meshes; limited stretching of the hose under pressure. Perfect for all gardening and hobby activities.
